BDA Awards dinner raises over £35k
Monday 28 November 2016
The BDA Awards dinner took place on Friday evening at Gray's Inn, London and another great evening was had by all.
Highlights of the evening included incredible live performances from the opera singer and BDA Ambassador Anna Devin and the rock gospel choir the Mike King Collective. We were privileged to have them perform at our dinner.
However the real stars of the evening were our award winners; Lotte Scaman (Children's Award), Daniel Ellis (Young Person's Award), Katie Netley (Adult's Award), Charlie Pinel (Teacher's Award) and Independent Dyslexia Consultants (Organisational Member's Award).
The event has raised over £35,000 for the British Dyslexia Association and we are hugely grateful to the generosity of all of our sponsors, guests and the auction donors.
Below is just a sample of some of the initial feedback we have received from our guests, sponsors and award winners;
"The awards ceremony was such a well organised evening, we were made to feel so welcome and looked after throughout the whole evening. Lotte received so much praise and words of encouragement throughout the night, something she will never forget. The entertainment, food and company contributed to a wonderful experience of winning the award and has made so many memories for us which we will treasure. " Simone Scaman, mother of Lotte winner of the Children's award
"We were honoured to sponsor at the @BDAdyslexia Awards. We are proud organisation members in support of the British Dyslexia Association!" Lindamood Bell, sponsors of the Teacher's Award
"Great night on Friday. "
"That was a very entertaining evening with great music, delicious food and interesting people. Most of all, it was a joy to hear how these few dyslexic people have found their way into a life they can cope with and feel good about."
"Thank you for a wonderful evening on Friday, so touching and incredibly inspiring!."
"Thank you so much for inviting me last night. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening and learned so much. Also it is a real community - amazing."
