British Dyslexia Association conferences and training goes virtual
We already have a great eLearning platform where many of our training modules are available. However, we know that many people still want the interactive experience offered by our conferences and by working with a trainer live in small groups.
So, as in person isn’t possible at the moment, we’re launching virtual training and conferences to give you the same benefits of our in-person training and conferences but from your home.
Dyscalculia and Maths Difficulties Virtual Conference 2020 – 18 June
We are very excited to announce that our June Dyscalculia and Maths Difficulties Conference will be going ahead as planned but as a live virtual conference.
Join the British Dyslexia Association and the UK’s leading experts presenting the latest thinking around teaching maths and dyscalculia during a one-day virtual conference that will share the latest ideas and strategies for professionals.

We have been able to reduce the price of tickets now this conference is virtual. We are also offering a £10 off early bird discount for all booking before 14 April. New prices are:

Virtual training
BDA virtual training programmes are as close to the “in person” learning experience as possible, with delegates all being “in a virtual training room” with their BDA trainer!
These virtual training sessions are limited to a maximum of 15 delegates in order that attendees can maximise the learning experience. The sessions involve discussion, online chat, interactive activities, video content and learning materials as well as direct access to the trainer, a dyslexia specialist, who will deliver the content and be able to answer your questions. Delegates will therefore need to be able to access a webcam and have audio capability on their computer in order to maximise this experience.
Lunch and learn: Dyslexia at work – 17 April
This short session provides an overview of dyslexia and neurodiversity, what you might observe and signposts to important information. Normally, we run this at a workplace over a lunch break, but while we’re working from home, we will still run it over lunch but you can choose what you eat.
This session is an ideal way for staff at all levels to get an insight in a low key and friendly way. It is particularly useful for, line managers and HR professionals.
A tried and tested first step to raising awareness, which can open the door to neurodiversity in your workplace.
This session would normally be £40 but we are offering a discount so it will be £25.
To ensure participants have plenty of opportunity to ask questions and interact with the trainer and each other, we are limiting the session to 25 places.

Practical Solutions for Dyslexia (Primary Age) – 27 and 30 April at 10.00am - 12.30pm
This course provides an awareness and understanding of dyslexia, along with an overview of dyslexia friendly teaching practices and approaches.
It is suitable for those working in primary education or parents of children of school age. This session can be used towards the completion of our accredited courses, so is a great starting point for anyone wishing to go on to one of our accredited courses at level 2, 3 or 5.
The session will cover:
- Dyslexia and its effects
- Strengths and specific challenges
- Signs of dyslexia
- Multisensory teaching
- Coping strategies
- Developing a dyslexia-friendly learning environment
By the end of the session participants will:
- Have defined dyslexia and considered its tell-tale signs and how to identify it in young people
- Have developed an understanding of what a dyslexia-friendly learning environment involves
- Have become aware of lots of practical ways of teaching young people with dyslexia inclusively
This session is normally a full day when delivered in person. Considering the practicalities of doing this digitally, we have decided to split the session over two days, running from 10am – 12.30pm each day, which will include a half an hour break.
To ensure participants have plenty of opportunity to ask questions and interact with the trainer and each other, we are limiting the session to 15 places.
