Dyslexia Creates 2019 redefines dyslexia in collaboration with V&A

On Thursday 26 September, Dyslexia Creates 2019 took over the V&A’s Lydia and Manfred Gorvy Lecture Theatre to explore the create power of dyslexia and how to increase its contribution to the UK.
On Thursday 26 September, Dyslexia Creates 2019 took over the V&A’s Lydia and Manfred Gorvy Lecture Theatre to explore the create power of dyslexia and how to increase its contribution to the UK.
Helen Boden, CEO, British Dyslexia Association, added: “Dyslexia creates. It creates art, it creates ideas, it creates society, it creates wealth. It is of vast importance to our country.”
The event saw presentations exploring:
- New theory on why dyslexia evolved and its role in groups by Dr Helen Taylor, Dr Helen Taylor, Affiliated Scholar, University of Cambridge
- The creative power of dyslexia and how do dyslexics think differently with presentations from actress Lauren McCrostie and Qona Rakin, Royal College of Art, and live performance from choreographers and documentary makers Elizabeth Arifien and Charlotte Edmonds
- How dyslexia has shaped success by Kainne Clements, Academy of Contemporary Music and Metropolis Studios and Aidan Ridyard, Burrell Foley Fischer Architects
The event showed how powerful dyslexia can be in the right environment and will kick of more work in this area.
