The British Dyslexia Association endorses the findings of the UN Committee. However, while we recognise that there is a definite need for inclusive education, there may always be a need for specialist schools for the foreseeable future.
We shall continue to campaign for specific learning difficulties to be part of Initial Teacher Training and as part of continuing professional development for all teachers in mainstream schools.
With DfE funding, the BDA created dyslex.io to help provide easily accessible resources for all teaching staff and free downloadable training materials such as the Teaching for Neurodiversity package. View here.
The need will also be emphasised through our connections with the All Party Parliamentary Group to Government, along with the need for Specialist Adult teaching and wider awareness of support that can be made available through Access to Work.
