Education Committee - Michelle Catterson
Michelle is currently Headteacher of the independent specialist dyslexia school, Moon Hall.
Michelle has always had a keen interest in working with children with special educational needs. Her career in Education has included work with children who have typically struggled with traditional teaching methods and who are ultimately unable to access standard classroom learning.
Michelle has also been a state School Governor and continues as a member of several APPG’s including the APPG’s for Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Social Justice. Prior to taking on the role of Chair of Board at the BDA, Michelle was the Vice Chair and Head of Education Committee.
Early intervention and support are a key focus area for Michelle as she believes that with the right support and understanding in place in the early formative years, many dyslexic individuals would avoid well-documented negative experiences of education which can be so damaging.
Michelle’s extensive experience in the education sector and visionary leadership will take the BDA through this exciting time with passion and momentum.
